Want to nail your interview?

Tell a great story!  (…and I don’t mean fibbing)

Our brains have been hardwired since childhood to engage in an interesting story that makes us feel some emotion.

So…. in your interview – what captivating story & emotion do you want to create?

I recently read a former colleagues’ “ABOUT’ section in LinkedIn and was so engaged in the clever way they described their personality and determination to solve problems and get things done.

Below is a ‘small’ excerpt from their ABOUT section to demonstrate the point.

“I have described myself as a “bull in a china shop”, but it does not represent the care and the passion that I put behind every project.”

Wow – did that ever paint a great picture!

In today's busy distracted world, grabbing attention and being memorable with a potential employer can be tough.

If you work on the art of storytelling and craft an intriguing narrative about yourself – you can leave a lasting impression.

Here is a simple tip:

All great stories have a beginning, middle and end.  So should yours.

1️⃣ the Beginning

What is your hook that immediately piques the employer's curiosity?

Consider highlighting a passion, or sharing an interesting fact that sets you apart.

2️⃣ the Middle

Now you can delve into the details…..but keep it concise, focusing on the key experiences, skills, & achievements that align with the job you're pursuing.

3️⃣ the End

Close up your story with a memorable ending.

Perhaps share a valuable lesson you've learned along the way and how it has shaped you into the ideal candidate.

Don’t make your story a novel. 😊 Remember, brevity and clarity are key.
